Come and get it!
We decided to go with the bird suet receptacle for storing and presenting bird nesting material. It costs less than 5 dollars and you can find it easily at a hardware store that sells some garden supplies. It is very easy to open and close and comes with a chain and hook.
We filled it up with our cat Georges' fur that I saved from combing sessions over the past 9 months or so (and NOT from the area at the back of his neck where flea medicine had been recently applied). I added dried up lobelia plant stems that are very thin and wispy. And then this evening we hung it up from a branch of our huge fig tree. This should be interesting. Georges is strictly an indoor cat (as all our cats have been), and now he gets to watch birds taking his fur to pad their nests.
Let's hope that these building materials are attractive and acceptable to our feathered friends!
