Gobbling up those blossoms

bushtit eating cape honeysuckle blossoms_edited.JPG

Well....here's one of the bushtits eating the cape honeysuckle blossoms. Most of the birds that frequent our garden love this shrub that is turning into a huge, wide hedge. It provides good camouflage, a handy resting spot, insects, and delicious blossoms.

This was taken a couple of weeks ago, and, as of 2 days ago, there are no blossoms left on the entire shrub! I thought maybe the wind blew them all to the ground, but only a few were there. So I would say it's safe to assume that the blossoms were all eaten.

Fortunately the cape honeysuckle blooms all year, so we'll see when it will be covered with that brilliant orange color again.
