It's been at least a year since I observed any gulf fritillary butterflies Agraulis vanillae in the area.
Walking around the garden on Sunday, I suddenly noticed this butterfly perched on top of a red salvia branch, slowly flexing its wings.
It looks like two different butterflies, doesn't it?
