This morning I observed a bee sleeping on a prom dress blossom.
I've seen photos of bees sleeping on flowers, but this was my very first time ever!
This is an ivory banded male digger bee.
At first I feared that it was dead, stung by a spider.
I softly blew on it, to see if it would move, but it remained motionless.

I went back into the house, and looked out the kitchen window after about ten minutes, and thought I saw some movement on the cosmos blossom.
Now the bee was in a lower position between the petals.

And then the bee turned around, climbing upwards on the blossom.
Look at that distinctive pale yellow marking on its face.

In a few seconds the bee prepared to take flight.
Then away it flew............
