I haven't seen carpenter bees in the garden since early summer.
And then yesterday afternoon I heard the distinct buzz of a larger, heavier bee.
There it was, a female carpenter bee.
She seemed to only be interested in the blossoms of the flowering potato vine.

She just flew from blossom to blossom, pollinating them as she buzzed along.
Nice to see you back, carpenter bee!
