Hello big bumble bee

I haven't seen any bumble bees in the garden since Spring.

You can imagine how surprised I was this afternoon to see this large yellow face bumble bee bombus vosnesenskii land with a big plop! in an apricot cosmos blossom right in front of me.

The only other time I saw one of these was in the front garden a couple of years ago.

That bee decided to take a nap on the leaf of the lavatera shrub.

So it was a real treat to have this bee visit the backyard.

The bee tasted the nectar of a few other blossoms on the apricot cosmos plant, then some blue sapphire salvia flowers, before it flew away into the neighbors' garden.
