A Bewick's wren

We hear the Bewick's wrens singing in the trees throughout the day, but they seem to only occasionally visit the backyard.

It was a nice surprise to observe this wren visit the backyard.

And like some of the other bird visitors, such as the Chestnut Back Chickadees, the wren decided to drink water out of of the hummingbird nectar feeder moat, instead of from the bird bath.

The wren also checked the butterfly bush and salvia plants for insects.

It also inspected a lavender plant.

This isn't such a great photo because it was taken through the kitchen window.
