Honey Bees and Lavender

Now that the lavender plants are blooming again the bees have more nectar sources.

Hummingbirds feed on the nectar of these plants.

Above is an image of a honey bee on a lavender spike. It seems to almost blend in with the spike.

Here is the same honey bee approaching the flower spikes of another lavender plant.

The various lavender plants are placed close together in their pots on the patio, which makes it very easy for the bees to spot them from a distance.

The honey bees often visit the bird bath throughout the day, landing on the small flat stone in the bath to drink water. I try to keep the water level just high enough to cover the stone so that the bees can sit there to drink and not drown.
