Yellow-faced Bumble Bee in the Margarita Bop
It seems like whenever I am in our newly created native plant garden area, I always see Yellow-Faced Bumble Bees Bombus vosnesenskii .
They aren't the only bees to visit the garden, but because they are larger and slower they are so much easier to spot and photograph.
One even landed on a bag of organic potting soil I was using, and rested there briefly before moving on.
Above is an image of a Yellow-faced Bumble Bee upside down in a Margarita Bop penstemon flower, foraging for pollen by "buzzing" the anthers of the penstemon to release the pollen.
And here is the same bee entering another flower on the same plant.
