Mimulus cardinalis "Golden Form"

It's so exciting to see the "Golden Form" Mimulus cardinalis plant start to bloom.

This is the first time I planted one of these.

It's always a matter of watching and waiting to see if the plant is happy where you plant it, because you just never know...

This is a streamside California native found on the Santa Cruz island with a different color than the usual scarlet blossoms, and is an excellent nectar plant for hummingbirds.

I purchased this as a seedling a couple of months ago from Annies Annuals http://anniesannuals.com/ , where they collected seed from a plant from the Santa Cruz island.

Because these natives grow along streams I planted this one in a plant bed on our patio.

It is one of the few plants that I do water daily.

It should grow to 2 feet tall by 1.5 feet wide.

Keeping my fingers crossed.
