Bishop's Children dahlia, one of the last of the season

Oh look at this beautiful dahlia, one of the last blossoms of the season on the Bishop's Chldren plant.

After several heat waves last month, I didn't think the plant would produce any more blossoms. Some of the buds were drying up and, as you can see in the photo, there are a lot of brown stems and leaves.

So it is especially nice to see this bright spot of color in the backyard.

It will be a treat for the bees and butterflies as well.
