Black Jack Figs are ripening
We bought a Black Jack Fig seedling in the Spring of this year.
It looked like a stick, about 30 inches high.
We transplanted it to a ten gallon container, and have it growing on the patio.
It first sprouted some leaves, and then the first fig, the one that looks almost ripe in the image above. The fig grew larger and larger over a period of four months, and just was hard and green. Then a few weeks ago it started to turn purple. And now it is getting softer and getting darker every day.
The tree is now about 45 inches tall, with two dozen figs.
It is so exciting, because I didn't expect the tree to bear fruit until it was at least a year old.
We'll see how the fruit tastes, and if all of the figs will ripen.
