New growth on the "Wooly Angelica"

We purchased two "Wooly Angelica" Angelica tomentosa seedlings last October and transplanted them in one of the flower beds on the patio.

Part of the plants turned yellow and withered, and I almost lost hope that they would ever grow.

Now that we have had some winter rain, and after I trimmed the yellow stems, there is new growth on both plants.

This is great, because we intentionally planted the "Wooly Angelica" as habitat plants to attract beneficial insects. The leaves provide larval food for the Anise Swallowtail butterflies.

Apparently in the summer flower stalks 3 to 5 foot tall should grow from the plants, topped by poofy balls of white fragrant flowers.
