Native blooms

The front garden with mostly native plants currently has a lot of yellow blooms, which is always a cheerful sight.

Above are blossoms from one of the Tidy tips Layia platyglossa plants next to a borage plant growing from seed. Behind them is one of the Lambs Ear's plants.

Tidy tips are native to California. The blossoms have a lovely sharp white margin around the tips of each petal. They are growing much bigger and taller in the cool temperatures than during the summer months. I transplanted them last October, and they started blooming in December. Hopefully they will keep blooming through the summertime, as long as I deadhead them.

Here is a nice lush view of part of the front yard with the mostly native garden area.

In the foreground to the left is a tidy tips plant full of flowers.

Behind the tidy tips you can see a lamb's ear plant, and to its right a Siskiyou Blue Fescue Festuca idahoensis .

Beyond these there are more lamb's ear plants acting as a border, with another tidy tips plant.
