American Robins and the Ivy Berries

Since January the American Robins have been back in the neighborhood.

Their chatter and chirps are very distinct.

Before catching a glimpse of any of them I would hear them every morning in our neighbor's coastal redwood tree.

High up in the tree they gather in groups and also fly together.

This weekend was the first time they were close to the house, taking turns eating ivy berries.

It is interesting to observe them picking one berry at a time, then flying back to the redwood tree.

I took these photos late Sunday morning , just when the fog was lifting.

This robin has an ivy berry in its beak.

I wonder if the birds ever get drunk on these berries...
