Ivory Banded Digger Bee in the native garden

Those ivory banded digger bees are so hard to photograph because they seem to be in almost constant motion.

They are constantly visiting the native garden, and are especially territorial about the lavender shrubs.

Here one of the digger bees is flying away from the Ray Hartman ceanothus shrub that it just visited.

The shrub is now at least five feet tall and wide, slowly producing honey scented blossoms whose pollen the bees love.
