The monarchs are here!
I can't believe it, we already have some monarch caterpillars on a couple of our Narrow Leaf Milkweed Asclepias fascicularis plants.
A monarch butterfly made several visits to our backyard, but I thought she was scoping out the status of our milkweed plants growing in pots.
But there they are, very tiny, about five millimeters long. If you aren't looking for them, you wouldn't see them.
Our milkweed plants, which we purchased last summer, and were dormant until a couple of months ago, aren't very big or tall. They are all just about six inches tall. Hopefully there is enough food for the caterpillars.
