Gilia Capitata "Blue Thimble Flower"

The Gilia Capitata “Blue Thimble Flower”, a California native, reseeded itself so well from last year, that it creates a nice patch of lavender-blue next to the Ray Hartman ceanothus plant. These blossoms are looking good, even though I only water the patch once a week. You could say they are quite hardy.

The bees, butterflies and hummingbirds often visit the blossoms which grow on stalks up to four feet high.

If you look closely, in the middle of the photo is a honey bee partially hidden by one of the blossoms.
