Olive Tree in the winter

I'm always so happy to see our European fruiting olive tree producing fruit.

This occurs every other year, but you just can't assume that it's going to happen.

I first bought the tree at least fifteen years ago when it was a 10 inch high topiary in a lovely little wooden pot.

Since it has been repotted several times over the years, in progressively larger pots, the tree is now at least 5 feet tall.

We are renters, so the tree has moved several times with us.

The birds love it, and currently we observe daily visits by those migrants from the tundra, White-crowned and Golden-crowned sparrows. Apparently there are lots of tiny insects that the birds enjoy eating around the tree's leaves and branches.
