Townsend's Warbler here for the winter

We're always excited to spot Townsend's Warblers visiting from their breeding grounds in the coniferous forests and mixed woodlands of Canada and the northwestern US.

This juvenile female was checking the blackberry hedge for insects.

These birds that winter in California tend to prefer chapparal and mixed oak-coniferous woodlands.

Most of the population winters in Central America, in mountain forests and mixed oak-coniferous woodlands.
