Well, look who visited our field yesterday

Taking a break from working in our backyard/ field yesterday, I observed a large dragonfly circling and zipping through the yard, never stopping. I tried to take photos of it, but ended up just getting dizzy watching.

After a while, I walked around the field and noticed a handsome Flame or Firecracker Skimmer quietly resting on a dandelion bud. It seemed very happy there, resting for at least 10 minutes.

The habitat of these large dragonflies include lakes, ponds, and hot springs.

We don't live next to any of such bodies of waters, so it's interesting to see them visiting.
