It's been very interesting to observe many butterflies visiting the dry field in the back of our new residence.
The field is currently dry, covered with a bed of dry grass, lots of nubs from chopped fennel plants, dandelions, dry English ivy leaves, and morning glory vines.
I was very surprised to see so many butterflies visiting daily.
Among the visitors are Umber skippers, Fiery skippers, Sandhill skippers, Gulf fritillaries, Cabbage whites and Common checkered skippers.
There are also Field crescents and Mylitta crescents, Common gray hairstreaks and Monarchs.
In the above photo a Fiery skipper is resting on a dry English ivy leaf.

This is the first time I ever saw a Field crescent.
