Butterfly visitors
A few days ago I spotted this monarch butterfly female through our living room window.
Her very tattered wings are her badge of honor, proof of a long, full life.
She was resting on lambs ears absorbing the warm rays of late morning sunshine.
While in flight, one would never realize just how tattered her wings are.
She still flutters through the air, perfectly regal.
The next day I spotted this red admiral butterfly in the front yard, near another patch of lambs ears.
Such a treat to see, since I've only ever twice before red admiral butterflies in our garden.
The butterfly spent at least 10 minutes in this spot of ground cover plants, slowly turning in place.
