Happy Pollinator Week!

Yes, EVERY WEEK should be Pollinator week to honor those hard working creatures that are so crucial to the our well-being, as well for plants and the entire ecosystem.

In honor of Pollinator Week, here are a few of our daily visitors in the garden.

In the top photo, a Yellow-faced Bumble Bee is rolling in the pollen of a California poppy.

Look at that orange pollen basket on its leg!

An Anise Swallowtail resting on top of a Blue Thimble Gilia aka Gilia capitata.

These butterflies are very frequent visitors in our garden, since we have some fennel growing (trying to keep the fennel under control). The Swallowtails lay eggs on the fennel, and we sometimes discover the tiny larvae, sometimes not so tiny.

A Sweat Bee on one of the blossoms of the Coyote Mint.

There are many, many sweat bees in the garden, all day, every day.
