One of our first Monarch caterpillars this year

Here is one of several Monarch caterpillars currently munching on our milkweed.
This one is on the leaf of a native Showy milkweed.
The caterpillar appears to be in third instar, where the stripes are more apparent, front tentacles just reach the top of the head, and the rear tentacles are shorter than the distance between them.
