Scarlet runner bean arbor for pollinators
I planted scarlet runner beans again this year, from dried beans collected last autumn.
The blossoms are so beautiful and pollinators seem to love the nectar.
We're not really interested in actually eating the beans the vines produce, just love to observe the pollinators visiting.
In the photo above, a Yellow-faced Bumble Bee approaches a cluster of blossoms.
Anna's hummingbirds also visit all day long, sometimes sitting on vines while sipping from the blossoms.
We created an arbor using two metal garden obelisks, and connecting them at the top with a bamboo arch, also from the garden nursery store, by tying them to each obelisk with green garden tape.
