More sleeping bees
Every morning and evening I walk around our backyard, along the California native plant area, looking for sleeping bees. There are mostly Summer Long-horned bees, but also some Yellow-faced Bumble bees, flies, flower flies, and other insects.
In the above photo, Summer Long-horned males are sleeping on the same California nude buckwheat flowerheads that they seem to favor. It's interesting to observe their different formations. You can see the morning dew on them, especially on the antennae of the male on the lower right. Also note that the flowers are still in bud stage.
Here are more Long-horned males another morning, again sleeping on the same California nude buckwheat flowerhead buds.
