Starting native plants in the front yard

Yesterday we went to Annies Annuals https://www.anniesannuals.com/ to buy native plants for the front yard of our new home.

I wanted to take advantage of the rains we have been getting to plant shrubs now.

One of the plants is the Ray Hartman Ceanothus, which is in the image above.

I'm not sure if slugs like to dine on young ceanothus plants, so we cut the bottom out of the pot to allow the roots to spread in the soil, while protecting the leaves.

The other young shrub that I planted in the yard is a Ribes sangineum, King Edward VII, a native flowering currant. It should grow to a maximum 6 feet tall by 4 feet wide.

Very exciting times!
